Boys Will Be Boys

Budapest, Hungary

To be honest, when I saw these boys playing on top of a 30ft (9 meters) wall I thought that they lacked God-given common sense and they probably wouldn't see their 16th birthdays. Then I remembered myself at their age. This is the type of thing that my friends and I did all of the time. I don't condone this dangerous behavior, but I do understand it.

  2. A great shot indeed!! Ah, memories of my two sons at that age and my wondering if any of us would survive! But we did and all of us are still in one piece!!

  3. Maybe the other side of the wall is not as high as this one. I'm more shocked by the fact that they're playing above a memoriam monument.
Alors , tu faisais les 400 coups , toi aussi?!:o)

  5. I wonder if the memorial is to a person who fell off the wall...
Nice find James! I would have been up there also.

  6. Love this shot. As we grow older our sense of danger becomes bigger, but when we are young we do lots and lots of foolish things :D

  7. Last month, at a family gathering, my 9-year-old nephew and 11-year-old niece were up in a tree, and I suggested they come down. Then I remembered what I was doing at their age...I was up in the trees, just like they were. The kids in my neighborhood were always climbing something, and in a way it's nice to see kids doing the same things we did.

  8. That is so true. I have 2 brothers and they are only a year apart. They were always up to and into something, and egged each other on. Enough to make your heart skip a few beats on a regular basis. One thing about travel, you often realize how universal human qualities and emotions really are.

  14. My Latin isn't very good, is this something about the city of Buda?

    That's me up there, BTW.

  15. I've always thought that boys have more fun than girls. I wanted to play like a boy when I was a kid, take risks, these kind of things... ;-)

  16. Ce qui surprend c'est la plaque de commemoration juste en dessous... J'ignore qui elle honore, bien sûr, mais ça ajoute du drame à ces jeunes gens trop haut perché.
