Sequoia National Park, California
Last month Vicki and I spent a few nights in Sequoia National Park. The trees are enormous. This is a photo of Vicki in The Giant Forest. Notice how small Vicki and the other trees are compared to the giant sequoia.
Some sequoia stats:
The tallest sequoia is 311 feet (95 m)
The oldest sequoia is more than 3500 years
The greatest sequoia girth is 155 feet (47 m)
The greatest sequoia base diameter is 57 feet (17 m)
The largest sequoia limb is 12.8 feet (3.9 m) in diameter

En effet, cet arbre est gigantesque et si vieux... qu'il transforme Vicki en liliputienne !
Wow, I've never seen a tree like that, amazing!
Perfect title James! ;-)
Awesome! That is so wonderful James!
wow it is so beautiful..
looks like the movies in Avatar..
I know the place is a "MUST" to visit.
When I see your photograph, I regret I did not have the chance to visit it when I was in the area , a little while over a year ago.

Quite magnificent tree, came out well on the shot and including the 'young lady' gives it a sense of scale.
ça parait totalement irréel! on se croirait dans un conte de fées! ça doit être impressionnant de voir l'arbre jusqu'en haut..
That is one impressive tree. Humbling to think they live to be 3,500 years old, just 1488 years of age during the time of Christ.
What a fantastic picture. Love it.
Greetings,
Filip
That is so awesome and impressive, it almost seems unreal. Great color too against the white snow. I'm glad they are preserved for us to enjoy and contemplate...
Gulp! Makes me feel so small.
Someday I'd like to see these. I don't think you can fathom the scope until you witness one in person. No way to get that puppy all in one frame, huh? Glad Vicki provided some sense of the real thing.
Hope all is well James. Happy day.
love the comparison shot--I've always wanted to go there.
Hats off to mother nature! Simply...
God bless you!

Oh! This really is enormous
You caught it with snow on the ground. It has been many years since I have been there when I could see it cloaked in white.
One of my favorite parks. A grand capture of this grand sequoia redwood, James.
A wonderful picture -- really shows how gigantic and beautiful these trees are. When we were in the Redwoods I found it so hard to take a picture that did them justice. Yours definitely does. Thanks.
Unfortunately I haven't been there yet, but I'd love to see it. Great picture. Love the colour of that tree.
Wow! I would love to see such a tree..it is on my "bucket list"!
Great photo! I've spent a lot of time in Sequoia and King's Canyon. Isn't it great to be there when it's not summer? Very few people there!
That is mind boggling. I think I saw some of these when in CA in college but guess I'd forgotten how massive they really are. Good one James.

Amazing pieces of nature! I am glad you put Vicki in front so we could see the size of the tree.
I had not been here a long time...
I've already put the blog up to date, seen such cool photos... this is just great!!
Cheers, James.
Warm hug from Brasil.
