An old woman and her birds

An opportunity to explore

A lion in St. Marks Square

Vacations seem to go by so quickly but memories can last a lifetime, especially when you take pictures.

  3. Three wonderful photos. I especially like the first one of the old woman. That is probably the highlight of her day. And I also love the clothes hanging on the line.

You are getting some good use out of your Canon Powershot. I have one too and use it frequently, often opting for it over my DSLR. In fact, I've used it so much, the writing is wearing off of it! I'll have to get a new one when it completely disappears!

  5. James, three gorgeous shots. I must say that I do love the night shot. It is superb. Love the low angle capturing the the lights and the arch. Not to mention the clothes. Love it! So everyday or I guess I must say so every night.

  6. All 3 are wonderful. Excellent angles and depth of field perfectly suited to each subject. There is so much to appreciate in each. So many details catch my eye. The old woman, her clothing, the quirky details of the architecture. The hanging clothes amongst all that old stone and the starburst lights. The contrast of the carved lion against the blurred repetitive arches. So much to linger over...

  8. Three very good shots, great lighting and exposure in the middle shot and I do like the differential focus in the bottom shot.

  12. awesome photographs James! love that last picture - most people would've just walked past without noticing.

"Vacations seem to go by so quickly but memories can last a lifetime, especially when you take pictures." ... damn, that's a good one! Couldn't have said it better... but that's why I take pictures.

Have a great week my fellow traveler!

  13. "Feed the birds, tuppence a bag" do you know this from Mary Poppins?
Love the low POV on your 2nd image, and well, the shallow DOF on the lions head-ahhh. All delightful to see. When are you moving to NH? : )
