The Rainy Day

Florence, Italy

" The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains,and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary."
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
 But "every cloud has a silver lining"   Today is a beautiful spring day with lots of sunshine.

  3. Oh, Longfellow's words would fit Seattle this winter so perfectly!! BUT not today!! It's still a tad chilly, but there have been blue skies and sunshine and the red bud trees are blooming!! Great post for the day, James! Hope your week is going well!

  4. What a cool shot James! It's impossible to say when it was taken!
    I'm trying to convince my friends to join me on a photography walk in a rainy day. :)

  5. This is such a wonderful photo. I can feel the rain like splinters on my face and the cold piercing through the hat and coat. You really captured the emotion in this shot. That bicycle looks so small for the rider. A great capture in black and white, James.

  6. Such a beautiful capture James. The man's posture through the mantel is incredibly well rendered!

  7. The poem is beautiful and it mix very well with your wonderful picture.
    In some way a bit funny because I think "c'est un petit vélo" pour le monsieur. ;)

  8. Another winner! The street seems to glow and provides a fine contrast to the man on the bike. The rain shows up very well on his dark coat too. Your photography from Italy is awesome.

  9. I love this photo, What a composition!
