Le Ballon Vert

Paris, France
As I was taking this picture I was thinking why couldn't his balloon be red.  However his green balloon fits in nicely with all of the other green things in the frame.
I suppose this could be titled "Etude en Vert". What do you think Malyss?

  1. Oh, yes, a green balloon is absolutely right in this photo, James. It's perfect.

  2. I agree. And will add that it takes great instincts and timing to take such a vibrant photo at just the right moment!

  6. Bonjour James-- My first time visiting your blog. I found you on Virginia's... Just browsed your site and have really enjoyed your photos, "sighted in Europe... and in the USA." -- In this particular photo of a Parisian street, my eyes immediately zoomed in on the old French car (a "Traction", I believe) -- It's hiding behind the green-ballon-that-could-have-been-rouge, and that's a shame... A bientôt. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  7. :o))
If you really want une etude en vert, just cut the picture on the left, after the"GC" sign, and the title will be perfect; There are so many green details that are attracting the eyes! And the balloon right in the middle is the center of them all.
AND: I'm with FGiS about this old car! that's a marvel!

  8. So much happening in this photo. The urbaness (if that is a word) is wonderful. Hope the kid with balloon has his eye on the traffic.

  9. There is a of green in this shot, so the balloon fits in, but red would have really popped. I was expecting traffic to be on the opposite sides of the road, which shows my ignorance of French road rules.

  10. I must admit the color of the balloon jumps out of the picture. The crosses of the drugstores and the green of the bus is not so on the foreground. Beautiful picture and nice to look at for a longer time.

  11. I thought the same thing James, but you know how I love ROUGE in Paris! I'm sure there is a green trash container lurking somewhere in this photo as well! HA

  16. I think he's jaywalking... or rather jay-running. But the green balloon is rather charming. Does it turn red when the traffic light turns red ?

  18. Great shot! Seems the boy is in a risky situation too! And it seems you are too!
Happily it can't be called ' Etude en rouge'!
    Thanks for sharing, James!

  19. What a shot! You were so in the right place at the right time! I don't know if I'd attempt this Parisian traffic though!
    Your trip sounds WONDERFUL! I agree, don't spend anywhere less than 2 days, it's not worth it. I'm horrible at remembering names, I ate at many good places and now my mind is blank. And trying to tell you how to get to them in Venice is beyond something that can be accomplished! Thinking of that, unless you know exactly where you're going once you arrive on the island itself, I advise you to get percise directions on how to get to your hotel. Getting lost in Venice is great unless you've got your luggage and you're fresh from traveling! Unfortunately I speak from experience :{

  24. Oh, my first shot was for the rouge, but on closer look, I think that you were blessed with that green balloon! The shades of vert just pop in this action shot. How could we not notice that BOTH his feet are off the ground.

I am not sure how you captured this shot, but glad to know that you "escaped"!!
