Interesting Coincidences

Paris, France and Lucerne Switzerland
This post is dedicated to my friend Owen (MAGIC LANTERN SHOW). Owen is an excellent photographer and blogger. He recently posted a photo of a tree in Paris with a woman's legs sticking out from it, she was actually just sitting on the other side but it was a fun illusion. In the post Owen asked "Did you ever see a tree with legs?" Click here to see his post, it's the third photo from the bottom. As you can see in my top photo, my answer is yes and I just happened to take this picture in Paris last fall two days after I met Owen. The next photo might be even more of a coincidence. Click here to see Owen's picture of a green women's bicycle that was thrown into a canal in Amiens, France. He posted it November 2, 2009 and I took the above picture exactly a year later on November 2, 2010 in Lucerne, Switzerland.  :)

  2. Wow, it took me a while to go through all of Owen's photos to find the woman's legs, because he had some very interesting things there, didn't he?
But the coincidences, James — wow!

  3. Coincidence but not only coincidence! Did you notice: when you have a broken leg: a lot of people you cross have a broken leg too... ;-)
    Training of the eye!

  6. Hey !
Many many thanks for this wonderful nod... Can't believe you found both a tree with a leg and a bicycle gone for a swim... Guess it just goes to show that there is nothing new under the sun. Only variations on themes. Love your tree leg there, looks very much alive. Yes, a hundred million shining thanks for seeing these, photographing them, and making the connections... You clearly have a phenomenal memory... maybe even a photographic memory ? :-)

    Take care James !

  7. Such unique and unusual images. One could almost say absurd. I love them both. How could I not? Clearly, you pay close attention to the world and the lives around you. Which in my humble opinion are the most valuable traits a photographer can possess...
