The motionless silhouette of the people, the bench and the gate is the perfect balance for the blur of the carrousel. The angels are beautiful for this ethereal shot.
B/W is my favorite. Do I detect a counterclockwise rotation?
While I find your images enchanting over and over again....this one is extra special. I prefer the black and white, which is not my "norm". Do you have anyplace where you can enter this in a contest? I think it is a winner. WOW. Fantastic capture.
Very special capture, James. Great that you got the movement of the carousel, yet still static angels. Both PPs are good, but my preference would be the golden shot cropped closer like the first (with maybe an extra hit of contrast). ;-)
These are really terrific! How everything moving is a blur except those angels is crazy! And the darkness of the static silhouetted figures and the delicate ironwork on the fence, well what can one say that hasn't all ready been said. A brilliant image full of contrasts and contradictions.
James! It's a winner! The movement is perfect as the black silhouettes make the event a 'freeze frame'. Did you see in the lens and know it would turn out...or was it a hold your breath guess, snap the photo, and hope you caught the miracle? I think I'd faint if I captured such a shot. BTW: I love your new header. Gosh...marvelous work! David/ Houston B&W
James, you are such a talented photographer. I love both the color and the B&W. In the B&W photo my eye is drawn to the angels. In the color photo, my eye is drawn more to the motion effect of the light. I suppose it all depends on what message you are conveying in your photograph. PS - 40 degrees here in MA this morning... will be happy to send some snow your way when it starts!
James, Scenery is the same, but by just changing colors, the atmospheres of two same photos look so different like magic. I love both of them. Two people are gazing at the angels? As Ruma said, your photos have stories. I admire them and am deeply impressed. Have a great weekend! Best wishes, Keiko
Fantastic shot, congratulations!!! It's original, fun and so cool. I'm not sure wich one I like best, colours are great, but I also like the magic atmosphere in BW. ;-)
Following your comment...you are right James, it's around 13th street. Our oldest son lived on Balboa Blvd close to the beach for a few years till last May...

Awesome! Great shot James. Really beautiful.
I love the colorful angels, James! Beautiful captures! Hope your week is going well!

Oh, they're both great, James. I think the angels are more visible in black and white, but maybe just because they're closer.

The contrast between the movement and the sitting people makes it a perfect shot. Best in black and white.
Brilliantly composed with the contrast of motion.
what a fantastic shot--I love how you've caught the motion of the lights.

I prefer the B& W version of this picture : the absence of colors enhace the movement sensation.
· Two beautiful pictures.
Yeah. I saw the angels.

Absolutely cool photo James!
Really nice James! I only live about 15 miles from this place and didn't know that had a carousel there now.

This is fantastic. The black and white is my favorite. It's heavenly!
Wow! I'm getting dizzy!

Very good, James!
Sort of 'ghost' effect in mono.
This is an awesome composition in color or in b & w! The movement is powerful, and the light just blasts off the page. Excellent work.
I see the angels James. The B&W version is my choice. Lovely forms and fun with light.
