Irvine, California (Orange County Great Park)
This large illuminated orange balloon can hold 30 people and it goes 400 feet up in the air but that's as far as it goes because it's tethered to the ground. To get a better perspective look at the man bellow the balloon in the bottom photo.
One of these days I'm going to take a ride in this thing.

That is really something how it glows in the night sky, and I like many of your other commenters, would love to see the view from up above which surely would make for some really marvelous photos...
