Orange County Sunset

Balboa Beach, Ca

These are two crops of the same picture. I arrived on the beach this evening just in time to take a few shots of this amazing sunset. The sea spray and wet sand reflected the sun and made everything look bright orange. To me me it kind of looks like the people are performing a strange sun worshiping dance. :)

  1. GORGEOUS James! The color on the first just pops and the scene itself is so pleasant.
That is so cool about your doctor! I totally remember them, I was cheering for them all season! Sadly, I don't think I've missed an episode of that show since it aired. Would love to do it myself sometime :) I hope your back is better for you?

  4. Great sunset shots; sunset is like fire, it seems to bring out something fairly basic in people.

  10. This is one of the most unique sunset photos I've ever seen! I love they way you shot right into the sun silhouetting all the figures and freezing them in their dance of joy. There is something very primal and pure here that you definitely tapped into on a very deep level. An unforgettable scene. Beautifully done!

  14. Wow. I agree about the feel of some wild dance to the sun - it could be from prehistoric times, or some post-apocalyptic vision. Great work.

  15. What an impressive shot, James... I like how you played with the saturation of the colors on this one : it translate so weel the sensation of blinding sun...

Btw, to answer at your comment last week : I don't have advertising on my blog. I've enable some of my widgets, to see if the problem is coming from there : can you tell me if you see more of those pop-up in the futur ? I would like to get rid of the widget causing them...

  17. Excellent photos James. Both are very good but I favor the wider angle. Amazing shots.

  18. James, this is an awesome shot (and I think I'm generally quite sparse with my superlatives). Besides the huge ball of fire of a sun and scene itself, the clarity of your contra-light shot is stunning. I like both crops, but maybe I prefer the top one with the clearer silhouettes of the people.
