The Latin Quarter Sweeper

Paris, France (Rue de la Huchette)
This guy seemed like quite a character as wildly swept the ground and loudly called out for restaurant customers. I passed because it looked like a tourist trap but I couldn't pass on the photo.
I think Paris is a wonderful place for street photography because there are so many interesting subjects.

  3. Yet, in the instant that you caught the sweeper, he seems far away, in momentarily lost in his own thoughts. What dreams and memories he must have stored away. Love the beret!

  4. He is an interesting subject. But I must be very careful because I'm gullible.
I love the color of the photo, nostalgic and expressive and beautiful!
    James, thank you.

  9. Why, Oh, why, do the strangers always catch and picture the ONLY man wearing a beret?!!Then the legend goes on all over the world that all our men are wearing such a hat, which is NOT the case!!:o)
This being said, that's a beautyful portrait, I agree!:)

  12. James,
If I could, I'd move to Paris and do street photography all day long. This is a wonderful portrait. The light, his pose, it's all just perfect.

  13. Very nice photo and great expression you caught on this man's face. I'm off to Paris in May so if you have any suggestions I'm open to them. Did you take your regular camera bag or something special? I was wondering about carrying it around on the streets so obviously.
