Sheltered From Time

Each year brings more changes but this old house seems to have been sheltered from the ravages of time. I bet with the exception of the power lines this scene hasn't changed much in the last 200 years. However I bet the trees look different now because I took this photo at the end of last winter.

  1. This view brings back many movies to my mind...Most taking place in the 50ies..Didn't you see H. Bogart or Truman Capote around here?... :)

  2. What a great house. Look at all the windows! It would make a great communal home for older folks.

  3. It's a beauty and if one looks hard enough you can see some reflections in those windows. I can just picture Rhett and Scarlett here :) Wonderful :) Have a great weekend :)

  4. Yes, damned shame about the power lines; the bane of many photographers.

  5. I bet the trees do look different. The black and white works so well with winter limbs.

  6. That's a beautiful house and the trees are marvelous. I love bare trees in winter. They look like they'd be great shade for the summer too when they leaf out.

  7. Seriously James, when I see photos of old things like that house. My brain goes into overdrive with questions. Who? What? When?

  8. Lovely framing here. The sun coming from behind the trees leaves them dark and forbidding, but the house still looks open and welcoming. Great picture.

  9. I remember this type of architecture. I love the details of this shot. The window panes, the little curtains in the windows and even some light peaking through. The filigree of the black tree branches against the white sky and their shadows on the lawn. Beautiful balance and composition make this image timeless.

  10. Bonjour dear James!
I have the same feeling that Malyss wrote about this scenery.
I imagine elegant and rich people living there, the mansion is adorable!
    Great shot!

The history is ticked away by it.

  16. Beautiful shot. I hope someday the country has the money to bury the powerlines. A few are kinda cool, but there are so many. It's hard to take a shot around here without them.
