Aged to Perfection sans Color

I've discovered lots of interesting old structures and ruins in Tyler State Park. It's a great place to explore. This is one of the small buildings that are part of a very old homestead that is used as a hostel in some parts of the year.

You can see the whole building in color at Newtown Area Photo.

  2. Great photo. How come it's only used as a hostel during parts of the year? Weather?

  7. That is VERY nice in black and white. Your composition lends so well to mono. You said, "is used as a hostel..." Are you sure you didn't mean "was used?" Just curious...

  11. My husband walked behind me just as I opened your blog and the only thing he said was "Wow!" And that was only your header photo.

Your black and whites and simply stunning, James. The play of light and shadow, and your compositions, are all fabulous.

  14. Oh Wow, this is a black and white version of the shots on Newtown Area. It has a completely different mood! The tonal contrast is fantastic and again, the composition is perfect for the subject. This could easily hang on a gallery wall and be mistaken for vintage. It does not look of this time. Stunning!

  18. I saw the colored picture on your other blog this one is much stronger, very dramatic and impressive! It could be a picture of war...
And I like the contrast between the place, old, and the sign with "youth"...It could be a metaphor about time!

  19. This is exactly the type of scenes that I look for. I so like the cracks in walls and old wood and things that would normally be called a mess.
