It looks like a horse-apple, Bois D'Arc, whatever. I like that it is the only thing in sharp focus.
What a great way to start off the New Year. Love it my friend :)

happy new year James.. the fruit looks like it is about to fall off at any moment :)
That is a real curve ball of a promise for 2010.
Simple, and rich at the same time...Great picture!I wish you to go on this way all the year long..for your pleasure of creation and our pleasure to enjoy it!
A composition focused on the fruit - nice!
That is so wonderful. The cone (can't think of the name for what it actually is) draws the viewer in. Happy New Year!
Looks good viewed large, sharp on the fruit - whatever the fruit is.
Nice shot! I didn't realise you had another blog :)
Excellent composition James!!I look forward to follow your blog in 2010 :)
Great find, James! I wonder what it is or was..
You have a great eye for composition. This is a good one. Happy New Year.
Outstanding shot!Wonderful and creative idea James, one more time it amazes me!Also I would like to thank you and the lovely Vicki for your friendship and so kind comments in our blogs! Thanks so much! :)God bless youLeia
Oh, James, this is just terrific. You have ticked all the boxes! I love the focus on the seed, which thows both foreground and background into stark relief. That concrete ledge is a master-stroke, as it provides perspective through the centre. In addition you cover the scale from white to black.Wonderful composition. Bravo!I have already wished you HNY lots of times, and if this first photo is anything to go by, you will have a corker of a year!!
I can see other ones see this as a fruit - unknown for me :) - but still a great picture. But still beautiful :) Happy new year to you and your wife and family :)
THAT is a very COOL composition
Essential and perfect: Happy New Year!:-)
Love the suspense...very nice image...thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!
Over The Line... clever title!
First photo in black and white ? how sad, I hope the rest of the year will be more colorful, lol ! (I am not a fan of black and white, as you may have noticed)
What a beautiful composition James. So special.
cool shot being the first photo of this year...mine is here
Nice pic, love how it's composed.
Very nice and cool!:-)Wish you a Happy New Year!
Great composition! It looks like a capsule from a platan, but that is just a guess.
Perfect photo and title! Yes, all the best for 2010!!
Great shot, great composition and love how you've titled the picture. Great start to the new year.
Really lovely, James. What an eye you have!
poetic. And the fade to black shot floors me.
Interestingly depicted - Nice work!
