Since the trees that are reflected in the church windows can barely be seen I added a barn window with a reflected cart full of pumpkins in honor of Halloween.

Looking through the Trees and into the Valley

I had no idea what I would find when I went to Valley Forge for the first time. This felt like a moment of discovery for some reason. The sun was in a really bad position so I'm happy that these pictures are usable. I used the trees to block as much of the sun as possible.

I'm trying to rest my bad back again and I hope to be back in full blogging mode by tomorrow.

Gloomy Days

Sometimes I like taking pictures when the sky is dark and gloomy. I like those moody shots that almost look black and white. Today I'm posting two such shots. I would love to hear people's opinions about which they like better, the original or the black and white version.

The pictures are of a flock of geese flying south and a statue of Revolutionary War General Anthony Wayne.

I was getting an overdose of color these week so now it's time for Monochrome Weekly, which is hosted by Aileni.

A Colorful Crossing

Come take a walk with me in Washingtons Crossing Pennsylvania, very near the New Jersey border. A great place for reflections.

What is real and what is a reflection on the water?



I've been told that the area around here was rated in the top ten for the most scenic drives in the world by a Conde Nast writer. Now I can see why.
As I walked along this stream the other day I was overwhelmed by the colorful beauty that was all around me. At some spots the reflections were so vivid that It seemed like I could walk across the water on them. I was blessed to have this place all to myself.

A Bench with a View

This weeks benches are from Valley Forge Historical Park. Choose your bench then sit back and enjoy the view. The people in the bottom picture chose to sit near Major General Friedrich Wilhelm Baron von Steuben's statue. The bench in the top photo was very simple, but all mine.

Time Machine

When the little clown turns the handle forward the peanuts roast under the hot lamp. If the little clown turns the handle backwards he goes back to a simpler time. An idealistic time that has only existed in classic movies and television.

For myself I would change Ben Franklin's quote from dog to cat, but it's nice seeing people having a good time with their dogs.

Mind Controlling Cat

I came across this little lady on one of my walks around Newtown. No words where spoken but it felt like she was willing me to look into her eyes.

Gaze into my eyes..........you are getting very sleepy.........yes that's it..........you will do as I say.

A Lonely Bird

When I took this picture I didn't think that I would like it very much, but I do. I'm using it as my desktop picture. Other times I take pictures that I think I'm going to love and it's the opposite.

Benjamin Franklin Parkway

Looking toward the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I can picture Rocky Balboa running straight for it. The Benjamin Franklin Parkway was filled with people on the 4Th of July as fireworks went off over the museum.

Nature's Ambien

I felt kind of creepy spying on these sheep, but I counted 16 then slept like a baby that night. With no side effects.

Dallas Reflections

Here are three views of the Dallas Fairmont Hotel reflected in the Fountain Place building. I posted all three because I couldn't make up my mind. :)

An unusual Bench

I think this is an unusual bench. It's not far from my house and sits just back from the sidewalk and street. The houses that are near by range from about 100 to 300 yrs old.

I wonder when this bench was made. If it's not a bench I wonder what it could be.

For the past several weeks I've been enjoying Rune's "Bench of the Week" posts. Rune invites bloggers to show benches on Fridays. I decided to show this interesting handmade creation.

I admire Rune's Visual Norway blog very much, he's a very talented photographer.

An Icy Paris Fountain

Vicki and I have never stayed in a hotel in Paris. Each time we've rented an apartment that is actually a part of the Palais Royal complex. So when we open our back door or look out of the window we see this courtyard and fountain. We have only been to Paris in the winter so it gets pretty cold, as you can see.
