Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth
"Bass Performance Hall The newest star in the opera-house firmament is Fort Worth's Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall, which opened spring 1998. Two giant, hand-carved trumpet-playing angels on the façade announce its welcome presence in the middle of downtown.
Although not actually called an opera house, it most assuredly is one, designed in the grand old manner: a horseshoe auditorium surmounted by a dome that appears to float over trompe l'oeil clouds. A mixture of Beaux-Arts and Vienna Secessionist styles, it houses the Fort Worth Dallas Ballet, the Fort Worth Opera, and the quadrennial Van Cliburn International Piano Competition."-Travel +Leisure Magazine

Musée d'Orsay
"The history of the museum, of its building is quite unusual. In the centre of Paris on the banks of the Seine, opposite the Tuileries Gardens, the museum was installed in the former Orsay railway station, built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900. So the building itself could be seen as the first "work of art" in the Musee d'Orsay, which displays collections of art from the period 1848 to 1914."

The "W" in Dallas
This is an easy ABC Wednesday.
Here is the W hotel in Dallas Texas as seen from a few different angles. This hotel caters to the young hip crowd. I once took a peek inside and it was as dark as a night club and had modern art and lots of colorful neon lights and well dressed young people on display or on the prowl. Not my kind of place but it was pretty interesting to see.

Something from Brussels

As I mentioned before we were in Brussel during a really bad storm so it was cold, wet and very windy. That made it really hard to get pictures sometimes rain drops even hit the lens. Even with all that, the details on the buildings are amazing. Here are a few samples.*Two umberellas lost their lives in order to get these pictures.

Watery Wednesday in Corona Del Mar.
Please click to enlarge for a larger view
This guy seems to be enjoying the water and the warm California sun in Corona Del Mar. My wife Vicki went to CDM high school. I wonder if they had sailing classes? I bet they had a surf team even my Fountain Valley high school did.

Chartres Cathedral
If our little orange friend looked up this is what he would see. The 16th century Roman Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres. I bet there isn't a mouse or pigeon problem here.

Looking up in Rouen
This thin building is in Rouen France. I wonder what it looks like inside. I doubt a king sized bed would fit. Also Napoleon looking down at me.
