I think this is an unusual bench. It's not far from my house and sits just back from the sidewalk and street. The houses that are near by range from about 100 to 300 yrs old.I wonder when this bench was made. If it's not a bench I wonder what it could be.
For the past several weeks I've been enjoying Rune's "Bench of the Week" posts. Rune invites bloggers to show benches on Fridays. I decided to show this interesting handmade creation.
I admire Rune's Visual Norway blog very much, he's a very talented photographer.

This certainly is a very unique bench, and a kind I have never seen before. The fitting of the stone pieces on the side are lovely, as is the design on top. A wonderful find.
a very unique n creative one..
Love the top of it in particular! Kind of a crazy looking sitting place...looks sort of mish-mashed together, but yet still all fits very well. Nice photo!
Such a super fantastic bench for the meme!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe it is art and serves as a bench secondary? In my book, it is a wonderful resting place so I call it a bench! How wonderful that you get to see it daily if you choose!
Drop by and see my bench on my all bench blog.
It is very interesting. The stone inlays look like rays of the sun. I just finished Dan Browns The Lost Symbol--so I'm seeing symbols everywhere :)
Not sure I'd want to sit there for long, looks like a 'sunray' motif. Nice bit of 'street art'.
Whatever it is, as a bench it must win the price as the most creative one I have ever seen. I first thought it was stacked with kindling wood, but a closer inspection proved that it was stone. So, it must be a sculpture of a grill - to be used as a bench!
Re your comment: No, the tree is not real - painted concrete with branches :-)
Excellent unique bench my friend :)
I think this is stunning.... I feel I should try a make one, but mine would not look as good and would collapse under my weight... I will just admire this beauty... The top remonds me of the suns rays.. and the art work at the bottom looks like a clock face... I wonder if this is a sundial
It's beautiful and I think it's a creative idea! They mixed some stones there, and the result is fabulous!

Wow, if that's a bench then I'd definitely want to know about the artist who's done it so well! Great!

Comfort made secondary to form. It works in this case.
I think this is a bench too. A really beautiful one.
(And I'm with you in admiring RuneE:)
It's very creative and unique, whatever it may be.
Sunny :)
Intriguing bench, I can't say I've seen one like this before.
I wonder if it was previously a fire pit/barbecue pit? Whatever it is its very unique and eye-catching.
