Looking Up and Looking Down

Ever since I started taking pictures I've been looking up, down and all around for interesting things to photograph.
I'm still trying out different things with Photoshop Elements 7.
This is a shot looking up at a Newtown street lamp and another looking down at it's shadow. I obviously played around with the top picture, but I can't remember how I got it to look this way. In the top picture there is also the top of a metalic balloon.
The weather is supposed to be nice this week so I hope to take lots of pictures.

Alienation and Despair

It was a beautiful day in Philadelphia but I noticed this very depressed looking man in what looks like a cage on the 2nd floor of an industrial building. The words alienation and despair came to mind. Black and white seemed perfect for this image. Seeing him on a beautiful, sunny, carefree day reminded me how we all have a different perspective, and although we live on the same Earth, we can be in very different worlds.

Black and Blues

There's a big differnce between singing the blues and living the blues.

Ben in the Sky with Airplanes.

The title is a play on the Michael Jackson song "Ben" which is about a killer rat and the Beatles Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.
The two lower pictures are not edited and only the middle photo was cropped. I heard the plane and tried to get a couple of pictures. When I got home and looked at them I noticed that it looked like a tiny airplane being chased into a cloud hole by a giant cloud rat. It's amazing what you see when you look up or in my case when you take a second look.

-I decided to add a touched up photo because it's easier to see the airplane and the cloud rat together.

Ant(e) Up

Newtown has had lots of rain this summer and the rain has brought lots of wildlife including these flowers. The rain has also brought lots of noisy insects and frogs. I had no idea just how loud they can get. Yesterday I saw an ant on a tall flower and I tried to get it's perspective in ths photo.

S'il vous plaît monsieur. Ce n'est pas pour moi, mais pour le bien du chat.

I'm a sucker for cats and the women knew it, and collected a Euro from me with great pleasure.

When ya gotta go Ya gotta go

We were in a hurry to find the restroom in the NY Met museum when this strange character caught my eye. I snapped the picture without missing a step. The top picture was also taken on our way to the restroom. Vicki wasn't happy since I was in charge of leading us there after we both waited way too long, and I kept saying just one more picture. Soon all was forgiven.

Cat Thoughts

Simba Simba
I love the different expressions on Simba and Lucy's faces. I'm not sure if they're deep thinkers, but they sure are loving and cute. :-)

Hidden Treasure

Some people like to take a dip in the fountain while others prefer a cold sip of ale to cool off.
Just before the blue hour in Philadelphia I walked down an unfamiliar alley which led me to another alley then lo and behold, between some abandoned buildings was an ale house that has been there for almost 150 yrs. I wish I would have stopped for a pint. (of ginger ale.)

Photoshop Elements 7 Fun

Hello everybody and thanks for all of the nice comments. Several people asked about the helicopter picture in yesterday's post.

I bought an editing software last month called Photoshop Elements 7 it cost $79.99. It was overwhelming because I've never used anything like it before. So I decided to just play around with it, now it's really fun. For the helicopter picture I'm pretty sure that I did a "multiply" layer then "spherized" one of the layers and cropped it to size. If you don't have this software I doubt that made any sense. :-)
Today's pictures are just another attempt to get to know this software, express some creativity and have some fun.
Malyss your eyes were drawn to underneath the bridge in yesterday's Newtown Area Photo post. Here it is, look very closely straight ahead in the top picture, and you will see eight bridge workers having lunch on the support. (You might need to enlarge it)
If you don't have editing software I highly recommend it, you can make your pictures look their best and have fun with new creations.

Have a great weekend!

Alien Invasion

Some of you wanted to know what was on the other side of yesterday's door. Well here he is.
Actually this is some of the things that we saw at the "Met," including a giant metal rooftop work of art. The bottom picture is my playfully edited version of the very tall thing in the top picture. (It must have been over 15 feet tall)
I'm sorry to say that I don't know what any of these works are called or where they are from.
Which gives me a good excuse to go back and find out.

The NYC Three

I couldn't decide which pictures of New York to post so I decided to post the three people that stood out the most to me in this very crowded city.
In the Met I saw a giant orange afro and had to click.(If I didn't know better I would think he was posing for me just like the lady in the stained glass behind him.) I haven't seen a fro like that since the 1970's.
The cat with the guitar was playing and singing the blues in a wonderful way in Penn Station were we waited for our train home.
The guy in the bottom picture was at the Met doing a very impressive sketch.

Creepy Wall

When I walked by this wall I barely noticed it, but upon closer inspection the faces where pretty interesting and creepy. After a little investigation I learn that this is the work of Andrew Leicester. This is only half of what's left of this piece. I think this and other works around here have been vandalized.
I think the building on the left is a yacht club on the right is a tugboat and a barge and if you look closely you can see Camden New Jersey straight ahead.

Sunset on the Mighty Mississippi

Endless love? I thought this older couple looked very romantic as they walked hand in hand.
I took these pictures with my old point and shoot camera in Memphis Tennessee in May of this year. I think this may have been the most beautiful sunset that I've ever seen.
